For a credential this widely held, that is arguably the better outcome — a fixed graphic would only ever suit some nurses, while free text suits all of them.
RN and BSN are different things
Worth getting right, because it changes the gift. RN is a licence. BSN is a degree. Many nurses hold both, some hold the licence without the degree, and — importantly for gift timing — a new graduate may hold the BSN while still waiting on the licensure exam.

Once you are buying for a unit rather than a person, the custom medical dry-fit jacket is often the more practical base. It is lighter and more uniform-looking, and it supports name and title, department, and logo placement on the chest, back, or sleeve where the product copy says so.

Getting the credential and placement right
Only use credentials they actually hold
The single most common mistake with an RN gift is using RN too early. Someone who has finished nursing school but not yet passed licensure is not an RN yet, however close they are — and a jacket that says otherwise sits in a drawer until it is true.
If you cannot ask without spoiling the surprise, their name alone always works, and it can be added to later in conversation rather than in thread. We do not have dedicated products for MSN, ADN, DNP, CNA, LPN or NP either, so if the person holds one of those instead, the customizable jacket route is the honest answer.
Keep it short enough to read
Chest embroidery is a small area. A name plus RN reads well across a room. A name plus two credentials plus a unit plus a hospital name becomes a block nobody can make out, and the letters that mattered get lost in it.

School crests and hospital logos need permission first
Nursing school logos, university seals, and hospital marks all belong to someone. We need the owner's written permission before we can embroider any of them, and that applies to a cohort's school crest just as much as to a hospital brand.

Choosing colour and size without guessing
Colour
Black and Navy are the only two colours available across every jacket family and the embroidered caps. For a cap-and-jacket set, or a mixed unit order, those are the only choices guaranteed to be offered on everything.

Size
We do not publish measurement tables, so please do not size someone from a chart that is not there. For a surprise gift, think about what they already wear over scrubs and how they like a jacket to sit. The caps sidestep this entirely — adjustable rather than sized, which makes the RN cap a low-risk gift when you have no idea what size someone takes.

Collecting the exact wording person by person is safer than assuming the group is uniform — and it avoids the awkwardness of an LPN or a tech receiving a jacket that says RN.
